Self-care blog: Part II
Time for Yourself- Yup, That Simple!
Sounds impossible to some, but you need it!
Just imagine planning time for you! No, that doesn’t mean you have to go out and make expensive appointments, etc., it’s time that YOU can sit and think, or just relax and do something YOU enjoy doing.
Plan 10 minutes, or more if you can; to sit with your thoughts, do something you love, or just enjoy some peace!
Even if you have a house full of people, you can set your alarm and get up earlier than everyone. You can turn off your electronics twenty minutes before you go to bed.
Here are some of my favorites:
1. Meditation - I’ve recently gotten into it; it’s difficult for a person LIKE ME who cannot shut their brain off, but the more I've practiced it, I've realized how truly centering and calming it is!
Even if it’s just 5 minutes of silence; enjoy the quiet!
I found some amazing 10- minute meditations on YouTube that I listen to on a daily basis.
2. Reading - Make sure they're books that inspire you, books that sound like they’re talking directly to your mighty core! If you haven't found the right ones for you, ask! Ask people who inspire YOU what they're reading, or who their favorite authors are.
3. Journaling - Yes, go back to your fourth-grade self; write down your thoughts, your goals, your self-improvements, your dreams, and how you’ll get there.
Write down inspirational quotes you come across during the day, or maybe someone said something about YOU that totally hit you in your inner being and made you want to continue to be your best you, or maybe it was a compliment that really changed the way you think about yourself.
4. Music- have you ever just sat quietly and listened to the lyrics of your favorite tunes? You start to feel the inner emotions of the artist! How about binaural beats? It's believed that this music actually activates specific systems and wavelengths in the brain to increase sleep, creativity, and concentration.
Ask Alexa, she'll play them for you!
5. Gratitude - So simple. Take time to think of all the things you have in your life; the people, your health, the material items, your career, etc. Practicing gratitude helps perk you up and change your attitude. Be grateful, be happy you're alive! Say "hello" to strangers, smile, and do a genuine gesture to make someone else's day. The more you practice gratitude and affect others in a positive way; the more things start happening, positive things.
...it's pretty amazing!
There are endless ideas; schedule a bubble bath, browse your favorite store, or do something you've always dreamed of doing like writing a book or painting.
Make that inner YOU happy, pay attention to what you love to do, and always schedule time for YOU!
Take self-care!
